Can someone advise what the severance package in general is like for those of us who will be let go??

I have read lots of different information on this page not sure if all WM policies are the same. I agree they hold no regard for the personal well being of their associates. The severance package has changed it's under One Best Way most people don't know what this is. 10-14 yrs of service you need to average your hours for last 6 paychecks or last 12 week's you worked ( they cut your hours the last few months on purpose) avg. Hours X rate of pay X years of service that's your severance pay and you don't get it for 4-6 weeks. I know my intermittent leave had everything to do with severance being offered to me. My store mgr knew I wanted to stay and even sent text to another associate with confirmation the position was available and I thought everything was OK. I was working overnight and I had to cut time on Friday the last day to accept the package so when I got to work around 11:45 pm O/N associates were telling me that during their meeting the assistant mgr took a call from another assistant mgr on speakerphone with all associates present talking about terminateing me in the system before midnight. They thought I should know, and were asking me why I was being terminated? I was in shock. The assistant was paging me overhead to the office and as I tried to explain it was a mistake to call store mgr. He wouldn't even listen he said I'm doing what I was told to do.. Even after speaking with store mgr the next day he was gonna reverse it and a week later haven't heard from him at all. I've called the store more than 60 times only twice somebody answered store phone and he never pick up. I wish everyone good luck and be careful trusting your management team at this point they are all angry because some of them will be next. Salary mgmt going hourly starting in February and titles will be Business leads and the ones they don't need are going to be in the same boat as most associates.. Karma
I am 3rd shift mod team but all we do is stock.we are the only ones left on 3rd.was told we could servence out. But now we are told because we are mod we have to go to 4pm to 1am.they didn't think that all of us would servence out. Now they don't have anyone to fill cap team. Not our problem. Mgt. already told cap 1 they would be getting 3 of us and we didn't even know what we was going to do.

This is to all who need a job. Find it elsewhere Wal-Mart is not a place to start a career, it ends careers. If you want minimum wage and like to work like a dog This Is That Place. A place that makes you pay for all benefits, only gives bonuses if they feel like it, but gives headache for free. They have lost site of what we are here for, the public trust. Wal-Mart stop trying to be AMAZON and stay in your space. You are driving what was a good company into the ground fast, pull your head out of you A-- and fix it NOW...Me only 4yrs. In and glade it's not my career.
I am a 19 year associate, my store is eliminating my present position which is dept mgr. I was told that after my position is eliminated I will have 60 days to find another position within my store or another store. My question is, do I have to stay with the company for those 60 days whether I work or not, or can I terminate right after I’m demoted and leave the company and still receive severance. I’m new to the severance pay package and what’s required to be eligible for it. Thank you.
Here’s your answer.
I am a 17 year associate how much severance pay will I receive is it 1 week or two for every year
When it comes to Severance, Some posts online are saying hourly associates get 1 week pay for every year of service, while other posts are saying it's 2 weeks pay for every year of service. Can someone verify the current policy?
Are people over 50 or 60 being terminated
Two weeks pay for every year is for salaried. Hourly is only one week pay per year.
i need my packegd oor eelss
done with family call Wal Mart
they are offering me the severance package because they don't have hours for me . i have been with wal mart for 20 years
Can you still receive your severance package if you only work very casual in order to receive your benefits?
Do part time associates qualify? I have not gotten the package yet and it is now 18 days after they said that I would get it. They are not telling me anything. I am concerned.
Who do we call if we have not gotten our severance package yet?
I heard you can't be rehired for two years?
How long do you have to wait to return to Wal-Mart after you have taken severance ?
What happens to people after the 20 weeks of unemployment benefits you all mentioned on the other thread??? I know people laid off 2 years ago that still have not found work in this area and somehow they still making it...
The policy has always been you are allowed to keep your discount card after 20 years of service unless you are terminated for cause- meaning for misbehavior only.
You may need to have it renewed thru Benefits- you will be explained the procedure thru the printed exit material they will provide you
If you are RIF & 20+ Associate then you lose discount card option? Because you did not "retire"?
When the BYOD expires and no longer available you can call AT&T and negotiate for cheaper rates and ask if a promotion is available
One thing that has not been mentioned is if you are on BYOD. As soon as you term, you are supposed to let your service provider know so you lose that discount. Don't ask, don't tell. I will go as long as I can with the discount. I'm sure WM does an audit so just keep an eye on your phone bill.
Two weeks pay for every year that you were there up to 40 weeks, plus all of your accrued/earned PTO. In our case we were given 60 days to find employment within Walmart and paid during those 60 days but did not have to work. Also we were able to keep what we had accrued in our RSR's and stock options/purchases.
I left out one item also on the severance that I did not provide below. You also get one week pay for every increment of $10,000 that you earn on your base salary. In conjunction with that 40 week parameter.
The severance package WAS as described. Not to worry anyone, but I was told it changed. I may be wrong.
If you get hit on Jan 20th, you will still be eligible for both the incentive and the RSRs. You have to walk in the door on the 31st to be eligible for the incentive. WM sneakily changed the rules a few years ago for the RSRs without making any announcement. You have to walk in the door on the day they are vested, which is around March 15th, give or take a few days either way.
I was told you no longer get any severance beyond the 60 days (it was 90 days). You have the 60 days to find a job within WM again. Otherwise you are termed.
You will get a COBRA letter within 30 days for heath insurance. You should be eligible for the ACA. You will also get a notification from Merrill Lynch to move your money somewhere else. You have a good amount of time to move it to another retirement account before penalties. If you have an HSA, you will have to pay the monthly maintenance fee. (WM pays it while you are an associate.) If you have an HRA, any money will be lost so find something to spend it on. Upon termination, you will lose your discount card. So purchase what you need while you can. If you have stock at Computershare, you may want to sell because WM pays those fees too.
Hope that helps.
