Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Unofficial official layoff tally is 1,800

Based on the feedback (and lack thereof from oracle) I declare the unofficial offices layoff tally at 1,800. FYI I raised Burlington, MA to 300. They details are in the prior post Layoff tally - 1,700?

With the ongoing shut down of the hw business and the coming shut down of the on- prem sw business ( they're not paying commissions for it anymore), tens of thousands more to go. Not to mention support leaning the good US of A and Western Europe

Its clear Oracle is aligning its business and in the process, having to right the ship of over 139,000 employees. 1800 is really a drop in the bucket when you looking at the 10K being layed off at Intel, 50K at IBM, 75K+ at HP, 30K at Dell?EMC, etc and when you look at the 7,786 job openings at Oracle, there are quite a few opportunities to chose from . https://oracle.taleo.net/careersection/2/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en

@3dqi - what is wrong with you?! Get your head out of the sand and stop spamming us with this kcid suc-king bs! And yes if you add up the number of people laid off across all the sites the number is 1,800, but oracle will of course not dead up to it, trying to pull the wool over everybody's heads and you fell for it s----ER!

Fake News Go Away! 1800 people have not been layed off at Oracle and SPARC nor Solaris are being divested-There is no communication to this # whether internal or external and someone just pulled the # out of his a**. Yes, there is major reorganization going on, and the ~450 people affected are all having the opportunities at new positions being opened across Oracle's Cloud development teams.

If anything, the opposite is true with significant ramp-up in SPARC & Solaris going in Cloud investments. Sure, the customer may be Oracle Cloud datacenter's, but at the end of the day, its customers that will leverage OracleCloud!

I am only saying this because I care: there are a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market today that are just as tasty as the real thing.

Feel really bad for all of ex Sun. I luckily got out long time back. There were a lot of smart people but Sun was bleeding and the siloed, top-down org didnt help to freshen things up. This was coming sooner or later and wonder why a lot of the people didnt see the warning signs and stayed?

I am even more saddened to see some of the hate being spread in some of the other threads. When some other company lays off people because the products are not performing, we feel it is a no brainer but when it happens to us, it is easy to use hatred to pacify us. Everyone whether Asian or American worked together to build the products and the company. There are so many companies that go out because of bad business decisions and not acknowledging the changing market conditions. Those bad management decisions affect EVERYONE below.

It is a bad time. Use it to get back in business, help each other out rather than hate people you worked with.
