This happened when they purchased the Quebecor/World-Color Plants. Those of us who were employed by QW plants call this the "Quebecor Cancer". It is the same primary gaggle of elites who negotiated their 'terms' with Joel Quadracci on the purchase of QW that kept them at the helm. They have done this very same thing in the past, swallowing up other printing companies, over and over again. Sometimes they take on the new company's name and sometimes not. Their primary goal is to line their elite pockets and treat those, whom Harry respected so much, like garbage.
That cancer will eat through Quad, just as it has countless other companies over the years, until Quad has to be bailed out (i.e. purchased) by another company who will then contract the cancer and the cycle will continue.
They are the Langoliers of the printing world. The Quad that Harry built, that once was the envy of the printing industry, is no longer; it was sold off by his sons, piece by piece. Now the supervisors have their boots on the necks of the pressmen, driving any remnant of skilled labor away. Anyone without Wisconsin blood running through their veins is routinely reminded of how disposable they are. And the terms 'benefits' and 'perks' are something only management has access to.
Once all the profit has been bled from the companies heart and soul, Joel et. al. will walk away - set for life, their children and children's children, will be set for life - and the elite board who consumes printing companies will continue their siege on the printing world.
All the while Harry spins endlessly in his grave and the Gold Tag Club laughs at the very people who make the company run.
