ARRIS laying folks off in Lowell, after a sweet visit from executives

TV sux, it's in a downward spiral. Every channel has been taken over by a swamp of class-less staged "reality" shows and the novelty is finally wearing off. Less viewers has broadcasters cramming in more ads to try to make up the difference which of course means even less viewers because ads are terrible. Especially ads in the last 10-15 years, half the time I can't even tell what they're trying to sell me.
@Ni0rv5q-Ddyr You must work for the supply chain group to make stupid comment like this. Probably part of the management as Motorola/Arris is known to promote dumb-a--es like yourself.
@Ni0rv5q-Ddyr: Unfortunately, you don't understand what is happening! Haven't you read the reports about cord cutting? The rate has increased dramatically and in 2Q it is projected to cross 1 million!!!! With that rate of loss in customer base in set-top boxes, there is no way the business will be sustainable. The video STB side is getting HAMMERED - just look at the number of employees in Horsham now! It has NOTHING to do with acquisitions! There were HUGE acquisitions during Motorola days and yet employee count was thriving in Horsham. Obviously, you dont have an idea - sigh
Dumb-a-- thread, all companies layoff after acquisitions, its called overlap. It will happen again because of Brocade/Ruckus. Common sense...
Yup, it is a truly dead company. Managers and VPs are only the ones remaining and they make sure their favorites remain... Utterly incompetent company...
Yes.. If they are hitting Bangalore... No place is safe..
Get out of this Sh!t company... It's all going to be downhill.. Cable is dead and anyone related to cable stuff would be gone in couple of months.
Arris sent few folks in India bangalore division too in May 2017. It is not a stable company to work for. Many more are pipelined in upcoming months.
Anyone heard what's going on? How many in total are going and from where? Have the "leadership" announced any new structures?
What about ARRIS India? That's where they're shipping jobs - there and Infosys in India. God forbid they pay a living wage to a US employee. My department's already been told no new hires in the US - only hires or contractors in another "global" location. Basically, a manager said "India"
Sh-- company for sure. Managers in Horsham make sure they keep their jobs and allow their long term people to stay on. I think it is just shenanigans.
What about Arris India?
Ship him in 3rd class. The previous guy from this useless company Stanzione got a honorary doctorate from some school! I mean seriously.. This is the sad state of America now,.. Einstein got his PhD after publishing groundbreaking papers and Stanzione gets one for ... not sure what! But then Obama got a Nobel Prize in his first year, so maybe the whole world is different where contacts and bs only matter
Yup, cut in the US and hire in India. Can we just pack up MacClelland and ship him one way to Bangalore?
Horsham is the GI HQ, It has all the top management in that buildings so that site would be unlikely getting closed (I think)
Seems like it could
I heard that they might close Horsham office. Is it true?
Hope this company closes down and the CEO is fired and thrown out.... Just angry.. So many management lickers who stick around doing nothing.. There are more managers in Horsham than people to work.
Yes, cuts at Horsham... Lots of management snitches in the company.. Horrible place for sure.. Old boys networks thrives making sure they get another 10 years by scratching each others back. Well, Karma is a b--ch - old boys also get old !!!
yes, Horsham, San Diego, Suwanee also got hit!
Still not done yet, more people are getting notified in Lowell.
Yes, right after visit. Can you believe that?
Did any other site got hit? Horsham?
