Thread regarding Manhattan Associates Inc. layoffs

Most definitely real 100+ and 60 new hires delayed; positions eliminated.

This is what happens when you have a rookie CEO promising 15% return in both an election year as well as the following year with retail crashing and burning. Supposedly 18 - 24 month plan with no more layoffs; like I'm going to believe anything this moron says.

I guess the CEO's of rue21, Sears, Gymboree, Ascena (Dress Barn, Anne Inc, Limited too, Maurices, etc), JC Penny, Macy's, Bebe, Crocs, Limited, American Apparel, Payless....and the list goes on and on are also morons as they should have seen this coming. Last I checked Manhattan, who is dependent upon these very same retailers, is weathering the storm quite well. Whose the moron again?

I think he has a lot of support internally and externally, as the poster below said, he needs 4 more quarters - we can judge him at that point.

Also, the remarks on sales are valid as well.

I work at Manh and Eddie is exceptionally intelligent and forward looking leader. We could certainly get him to be more sales focused since he comes from product background but hey, who is perfect? isn't that a myth? we should give him 4 more qtrs to react to this market condition which may include layoffs. its business.

Nothing bad about voicing opinion, even though I disagree with the poster who called Eddie a moron. Actually, I disagree so much that the moron statement makes me sick - but, I will respect your right to voice your opinion....

Anyhow, He's certainly not a moron, I worked with him on several projects when both of us were much younger - he was always on of the smartest guys in the room.

Now, everyone makes mistakes, he will make some - given how the stars are aligned right now I don't think we can find a better CEO.

Finally, it was very sad to see some outstanding talent being axed - I guess that's what's needed now, so let's see what happens next.

This is just a business decision. Nobody is a genius or moron in this case. Retail numbers have tanked and the effect trickles down. I happen to be one of the people who's position was eliminated in this layoff cycle. I am not offended, I do t take it personally, and if someone feels the need to personally attack an individual at the company, I would suggest they get their emotional issues addressed. It is business.... Not a personal relationship when you work for a company.
