Thread regarding Regis Corp. layoffs

Regis Corp are selling off all their Smart Style salons just to stay afloat. Smart Styles are their number one money makers so for them to sell at that level is clearly sign of the companies demise. I worked for Regis in the Louisville KY area and you literally can't find a Smart Style now that hadn't been sold out from under managers / staff to the highest bidder. The entire staffs of these salons have been walking out the day the salons are sold.

Regis has been around for nearly a 100 years and is barely generation the same revenue as other Companies like Great Clips who have only been around for 35 years. And the is with Regis having over 10000 salons and great Clips only having 3600. Regis is circling the drain.

Simple. Regis died because of its selfish greed. An embarrassment to the art of cosmetology. Slum wages, slum commissions, understanding, lies and horrible treatment of staff. They have had mass walkouts for ober a decade. Too many coupons and discounts and frankly teatering on antitrust monopoly. I'm elated to see they have finally failed as I lnew they would because despite their blind greed they forgot there are consequences to placing their employees in poverty. Im am sorry to my Cosmo sister for their loss of jobs but its time to say no to chop shops, no offense.

Sounds like a class action law suit.....was told today SmartStyles is closing by Jan 31 in Hartwell ga.... been there 2 years ....I live 5 mins from there ....they also have famous hair in strip mall.... the two other stylist got offered to go there ... that I have more time on.... I got offered a 45 minute drive one way for minimum wage..... that’s just to keep from paying unemployment ... they can say they offered me a job....

I am so confused our smart styles hasn't been sending products the past month and now all retail is buy 1 get 2 free... what's up? I asked my DL if where closing because clients are asking, she said no just new retail brands. But we're not getting shipments. So should I be worried for my job

I don't understand what's so hard about running a hair salon. Some of those DL and SDL don't support the company. They compete and don't grow the company. Regis is TOO big to start folks at min wage. That's their management. It makes no sense to sell to people who don't know crap about hair unless someone is explaining to them crap about hair.

Look at the new website for the beautiful group..terrible! BEAUTIFUL pictures but too wordy. Clients don't know what the hell an "a line bob" is..why did they do it? Sallys and Wal-Mart already sell products to compete why explain in depth which design line products to use to recreate a look? The stylist can explain that. The market is too open. They should STOP explaining to clients after such a PUBLIC sell. Update the website pay your employees more and get the potential market that was turned off from them. Not give weight to jargon riddled discussion.
