Approximately 310 reduction through attrition/retirement, 470 through layoffs. This will occur over the next 60 day. The CEO himself stated this during a global meeting on 7/31/17

So whats in store? Sounds like lots of BS. And if an investment firm buys this company no telling what is in store.
How many from Columbia, SC will be hit?
So much for Danny's "Right to Grow" strategy ...
Short-sighted management decisions intended to expedite construction and increase profit have resulted in head count reductions and potentially threaten US leadership in the nuclear industry.
The good folks at Westinghouse deserve better.
Just look at the Circus W legacy - East Pittsburgh, Churchill R&D, Large Advanced Energy Systems and MTD, Trafford Power Circuit Breakers etc. etc. etc. Great engineers and terrible management. Cranberry Woods HQ is set for a sale. About the only part worth anything is refueling. That will be true for a few decades as existing units continue to operate. I&C is toast. Money loser. Really sad that after the TWICE fiasco that new builds were fixed price. Do the same thing and expect different results. The final nail in the W coffin will be when Georgia and South Carolina are converted to natural gas.
laying off 11 machinist today in Newington NH
It would really help to know what type of positions are being laid off. Are we talking mostly engineers? Operators? Planners? Admins? All of the above? Any info would be appreciated.
I was let go today at HQ. everyone, 5k+ lost their jobs at VC summer build site. Roughly 1100 engineers there. I wasn't even working on domestic projects. Every dept will be culled to make room for experienced higher value engineers that were/will be laid off as part of the VC Summer boondoggle orchestrated by Danny Roderick and company. The company has more Upper management now than they did before the bankruptcy. I can only hope for western PA's sake that whoever buys WEC fires everyone from director up... they are going to try to run the ship with a Skelton crew working 12hr days 6 days a week until it's purchased and the new owner realizes they are severely under staffed.
At least 1 at Churchill and 1 at Waltz Mill
Any info about which locations/positions going to be hit? Good luck to all.
