Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

New lay off..France

New headcount reduction announced in France...in the last 2 years about 600 /700 people fired in different locations ..less than 2000 workers still there... but soon 30 % fired.........not enough money for SLB....Thanks at the top 10 Managers that have added 1 million dollars or 2 in their salary last year ....Great commitment ...

French union sued SLB due to their bad habbits and bad practices with workers ( French and Foreigners) ...so next appointment is in court .....

The future of this company...."There can be only one" ....

The French have become weak. This from a people's who still celebrate Bastille day. So sad, so pathetic and so low energy. You will have to excuse me, i believe i am going to cry.

Every executive in SLB climbed up the ladder in the same way. Look what they can do in this downturn. NOTHING!

I remember Peyret from a long while ago when he was young and upwardly mobile within GECO/SLB

He was a good guy, nothing special. Good luck to you Olivier you obviously licked the right bottoms

According to Olivier Peyret (Chairman Schlumberger France), 60K people have been fired since 2014.

120K-60K = 60K ?

Layed (WRONG) -> Laid (RIGHT)

120k - 50k = 70k, NOT 80k

Typical SLB management material.

If they've layed off 50k then they still have like 80k employees. That's still more than any of the other service companies individually.

80k is still a lot of employees. They could probably cut down to 65k or so and still function.

Other service companies laid off their employees too, but SLB is one of a kind in terms of...

  • The size of layoffs: Whopping number of 50k!

  • Compensation for executives: More $$$ for executives and even raises during the downturn

  • The number of joint ventures: Hmm

  • Toxic, widespread favoritism and backstabbing: No additional comments needed here.

What else makes SLB one of a kind?

You might think NAM had enough layoff, while we are suffering, managements thinking of closin down office outside US in NAM, canada probably will get hit soon.

Slb is just a service company like any other all with the same standards. Let's not think it's in a class of its own.

It seems like US employees also need a strong union like them. Laying off employees and ruining their families has been so easy here.

Get the feeling some of you are being racist and xenophobic really the class of employees in SLB can be so low. Judging those you do not know just because they live in a different country to you.

Wow, ignorance is indeed limitless. The total number of people who got laid off from SLB is over 40,000 - maybe it's close to 50,000 now. The current headcount includes people from Cameron due to the stupid merger.

It seems like french employees have no idea of what has been going on in the US. Unbelievable. I never agreed on the idea that certain breeds are protected in SLB, but now I'm a believer.

I dont think much layoff is done overal, many people is been moving around too.

Some location massive and some locations have been hiding safe.

Looks like this is a roumd to remove seniors.

How many employees is slb down to?

A peak of 120k a few years ago right?

Yahoo finance says they still have 100k surely that's old right?

The French always thought they were better than anyone else. About time they suffer like the rest of us.

I dont think that is a nice thin to say, but what do I care, I just want the share price to go up so I dump my shares.
