Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

WARN ACT NOTIFICATION PACKAGE

Hello,

I was let go today after 15 years of service to Sun/Oracle. I received a my Fed-Ex package and was notified under the Warn Act that I will be paid and have benefits for another 60 days.

After my 60 days, should I expect a severance package, or is this my severance package?

Best wishes to all that have been impacted by the layoff...

@1jnn yep, that's how it works. They deduct the WARN payment from your severance - makes no sense but they still do it. It's Oracle after all, and if you thought they could not screw the worker more than they already have, they give you this FU move as a parting gift.

I was laid off last year. I got a check in the packet for the partial pay period and vacation cash out. About a week later I got the WARN check, payout of 60 days in leui of notice. I had to sign the layoff agreement to receive severance, which was about a week after I sent that paperwork. My severance was reduced by the WARN payout, but stayed at their minimum of 2 weeks pay. After you have your money, you can do what you want. They should state the date that your employment is terminated, probably today. After that date, you should be able to take employment and not violate company policy.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond.

Best to all and enjoy the Labor Day (the irony) Weekend!

Is the WARN act 60 days appearing in the CA packages only or also in Massachusetts?

If someone take another job, he/she can still get severance, only if don't notify Oracle about it.

The 60 days is in lieu of a WARN notice.

Try this search, there is a plenty of explanations about what's going on:

Just saw this thread, it's good @G1rqY1E

Not sure if this works, but I saw the hashtags as well:

#WARN #SixtyDays #SixtyDaysNotice

If you take another job during the 60 day period, you will receive no severance. The severance only kicks in at the end of the 60 days.

I believe you have to wait for your PTO interest free. Also the 60 days will be deducted from your severance. If you find work Oracle may not pay you severance at all.

Ok the bright side you will get 60 days of healthcare.
