Ii used to work at athenahealth, i am an engineer - worked there for about five years. the pay was good, the people are fairly smart and supportive. overall, the whole gig was a lovefest until layoffs started - we went through a couple of rounds of major layoffs including a mega layoff when they decided to lay off all engineering in San Francisco - the engineering piece is now consolidated in Watertown, MA.
Aside from this, I was able to bring my own dog to work and it was casual - both are very important to me - I know that many companies do this now but I can tell you, it was not like this about five years ago.
Anyhow, aside from this - being laid off s---ed. I have about 10 years of experience in and it took me about 3 months to find a decent job. I hear you are going through cuts again, good luck to all involved.
