Mergers are never good news for regular employees, but this takes the cake. Brocade just announced mass layoffs, and the reason? Broadcom merger complications. Still not sure how many or from where, if anybody has some inside info, it'd be great if they could post it here.

...And if you check the California WARN website, which is required by law to report the number of people affected, this "mass layoff" is actually......96 people.
And you are surprised because this has never happened before?
Wake up. This is the silicon valley where layoffs happen on a weekly basis.
The majority of the people who are not aligned with the SAN BU has either taken the severance package or found other jobs. The ones sitting around are those in the group of: cannot find a new gig, milking the long closure, or hoping that the closure will not happen.

This should come as no big surprise to folks who where not aligned to a business unit - they were to be let go at end of July but the delay in the acquisition stopped that so now that they are close to the acquisition date they are letting them go at this time I assume. They should know who they are - the ones who've been sitting around doing nothing for the last few months.
