Thread regarding Harman layoffs

Things are different now...

I can talk only about the Professional division of HARMAN - since Samsung stepped in things are tight, there is anxiety and there are no new projects/products in the works.

When you sum everything up, we are worse off - I was hoping that we'd have a financial improvements, that they will be investing, thinking about future. What we got is a 'permanent state of limbo' where folks are afraid or unable to make moves that can propel us forward.

On top of this, rumors about layoffs and closures are constant which kills the morale.

At this point, since I am very happy with the pay, that is the only reason why I am sticking around - we'll see what happens with our pay as we go into 2018 but should that change I think I'd be the first one to leave.

Good luck to all...

I am less gang-ho on the company than the original poster... Here are some of my gripes:

  • I am in sales - since products are sale all the time, it's hard for me to make my goals

  • No promo opportunities

  • Nepotism is rampant, look around you

  • Siloed, turf wars, departments isolated

  • Our folks are not giving 100% (across the board - lack of motivation)

  • Great place to work - on paper only

  • You are just a number (this was not the case 'back then')
