Thread regarding New Balance layoffs

No layoffs at New Balanace, but some issues

Overall the company is fairly good, at least for 2017 and probably 2018 - compared to the competition NB is much better and more worker oriented - we are not a public company and we do not have to cut labor every quarter as things change on Wall Street. I work in a store and I have mixed feelings - I like the brand and how they manage the product and marketing. At the same time I had 3 store managers in two years, attrition is a problem. There is nepotism and people do favors to each other - that s---s when it's done in a professional setting.

Scheduling may be a problem for some as you will be given the worst shift if you are not close to the store manager.

Overall, no layoffs, no store closures and things are good at New Balance.

New Balance will have another 100 more to go. They should include those family members that have a free ride laughing at the rest of us as we know we are in trouble and they know they have it made. Mum or dad in a great position to make sure their role is secured for good. Work hard, be loyal, family company no longer the mantra. What’s really going on is a group of people, senior management that are using the company as their own personal playground. Jim Davis, Keep an eye on that.

That no layoff mantra stopped yesterday with a global reduction of 100 people. And the company that says they care offered a pittance for severance packages. Not the same NB Jim Davis was known for.

The Hammer dropped today at New Balance. After a early retirement offering for select 60+ year old associates in Septemeber only mustered 75 retirements, today New Balance laid off approximately 100 associates.
