Thread regarding Quest Software Inc. layoffs

Oh finally they shake the top ... or is that "miscategorization ?"

So Data Protection seem to have a first reality check, who is going next ?

My sources indicate Micro Focus may be lining up some offer for the data protection business. Netvault may be further spun out itself as the product has little shelf life left but some creative accounting may come to the rescue. Rapid Recovery with it's Azure links and it's feature set may yet be salvageable - but the support costs are cripplingly high and sales cannot sell it - a bad combination in exec's eyes. Expect to see imminent departures in the non core support areas.

I guess some others layoff are to be expected ,especially the managers that were part of the cric but add no value at all ... it also mean some other "strategizing" and trying to fix world hunger, so here it goes luxury hotels with perks and the odd private jet flight.

Really not surprised that the BIG RW has gone. He really don't have a clue about DP and got rid of those who really did. He did not listen to the facts of what would happen even when someone was brave enough to tell the whole team exactly what would happen. DP was a small business within DELL -how could it possibly grow outside?

Ronnie Wilson is gone - that has some significance. DP is dead in the water and has been for years. If Dell can't shift it how the hell can Quest? Netvault is archaic and Rapid Recovery is a flawed design and cannot be trusted. No self respecting sys admin would touch either with a barge pole.

If Elliot don't sell DP soon they will be no value at all. Jettison the Cork support team - that luxury language support is not needed and seems they can't keep any staff anyway - might give the other regions a chance to survive. If they can sell it in next 2 quarters - otherwise that is one expensive write off. $600 million AppAssure originally cost. WOW what a slump in value.

How true, but the big wigs need to be kept in the lifestyle that they accustomed to. Business class, Fancy Address hotels, splendid off-site locations for all their secret meetings. If they get rid of x10 people, that'll easily pay for the £10k+ bill for there T&E.

strange that people are needed to let go when a lot of budget is spent on travel to places by management folks in R&D and then stay at posh hotels all in the name of business..Seems cost cutting in one way but in another

The entire DP group would be my guess. It's a very different type of "company" than the rest of Quest and will be the first of the four business units let go as part of the impending fire sale.
