Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Over paid

Honestly... Did none of you see this coming? A quick search shows you that enrollment / admission pays between 39k and 50k industry wide. There are people making TWICE that at UOP. Are they putting in TWICE the students?

UoPeeee is the bottom of the barrel of higher education and working there is an absolute nightmare. I will cheer their demise!!!

I think the academic advisors are overpaid for their services. If you wanted to be rich you should have been a banker or a d--g dealer! Did you get into the education services to get rich or help people? If you are not a people person, then why are you on the phones with students all day long? Get yourself into a position that requires you to either (help people) or (make money). Seems like you are all in it for the latter.

I'm an academic counselor and in no way am I overpaid. I work incredibly hard to retain students. In addition to the other obligations that we have and mostly pertaining to the new initiative we have which is Inside Track. We are held to very high expectations when it comes to customer service and I will say it again, the academic counselors I know, put forth fruit in our labor and I don't think we're paid close to what we deserve.

I truely do not think UOP reps understand what it is like at other schools. 10-15 students a month is worth 60k-65k. You all forget that the number of for profit schools is not increasing but decreasing.

Enrollment here. I know a few reps making $80-95k. Half justify it by enrolling 10+ students a month. Others making that much only enroll 5-6 students. Those are the ones that need a salary reduction. The problem is if they do it across the board, they will loose great enrollment reps. Reps that are invaluable and that cannot be replaced. This will accelerate the demise of UOP. Bring in new hires, they never last. The end is near. It’s been a good ride. Time to move on folks.

There are both employees and upper management that are overpaid, and DO NOT deserve the salaries they earn(whether it's $100k or $50k). The problem stems from no motivation to work hard. Folks don't have to anymore. However, there are some folks who TRULY DO a great job. I know a lot of them. So, yes, they do deserve twice the pay bc they are literally enrolling/servicing twice the students that others are.

The majority of employees in enrollment, academics, and finance are over compensated and the skills they have will only transfer to another university.

Of course we saw it coming. We are still going to bit#h and complain to help upper management feel the misery on our way out. Bad PR is great!! It is that simple.
