Thread regarding Dish Network layoffs

More info on layoffs

Christiansburg site was shut down except for back office and survey response. They will be moved to a smaller building. Corporate rolled up in hummers March 13th and shut it down in a day after telling us they were just going to let us know where we were moving to. We originally had 600 employees now we have dwindled dow to very few as they sold the building with everything inside it. We were offered work at home ( if you had good attendance, no consults or performance issues) with 60 days of pay and benefits for a severance package if you chose to leave. If we weren’t eligible then we were walked out the next day.

I was part of this layoff. From what I recall, they downsized from 600 employees in the NRV to 150. Not sure what happened after they relocated to the NRV mall site. I tried to stick it out for a bit but it felt really great to turn in my headset and take the severance. I was out of work for a month job hunting. Finally, I landed my dream job building PCs for a small IT company in Christiansburg. I've been with them over four years now. Dish letting my go was a low blow at the time. Looking back, it put me on the path to a successful IT career. When one door closes, another opens. If you just got laid off, know that things will get better!

Well for some who was doing work at home, they offered a lower paying job to stay with the company. That obviously could mean a lot of different things including them being pretty close to the WARN threshold (Do these people count towards their home sites or just work at home for WARN?) I wish there was a way to account for everyone who got laid off

That makes sense. It also shoes how little they care about their employees. I thought for WARN, if there was over 500 it was laying off 500 employees in 30 days. They are really screwing with us. I'm afraid to lose my job.

I've spoken to warn lawyers. Unfortunately the company seems to be coming under the threshold. It would only be a warn violation of the company cut down at least 50 and 1/3 of the entire company. We know it's more than 50 but not likely meeting 1/3. Also, those who have signed the severance agreement would not count to the amount laid off.

That's awful.. why haven't they notified us of the mass layoffs. At this point, there's no way to be under the WARN threshold..
