Thread regarding Avid Technology Inc. layoffs

Q1 earnings today

Place your bets...

Without the Harmonic patent settlement this time, how will Avid fill the void this quarter?

If the going is good: NAB was a big boost for Avid

If the going is bad: NAB stalled deals in to Q2

Well on a positive note former CEO LJH is history due to workforce misconduct and N. H. Was booted from Chairman of the board. It was a job wherein it was very evident she was not suited for. Very bad news is 200 million in long term debt, increased the credit line by another 35 million. Inability to attract top notch employees which is understandable when people look at the financials. Morale isn’t very good. Again understandable due to the financial situation and history of continued layoffs. This company needs a CEO with a track record of turning around organizations in this type of financial difficulty. Innovation has slipped away along with customers. Strong competition from companies like Adobe and Apple who have the resources Avid simply doesn’t. Let’s hope for a miracle. I sold, the stock just isn’t attractive. There is no strong substance (like a significant profit). When there is a few quarters with significant profit I will jump back in.

We are still going to hemorrhage for quite some time. The financials versus the visions will dictate the future or the semi-demise of the current structure. And the financials are pretty poor.
