Thread regarding West Corp. layoffs

This is not about performance

The first performance goal progress entries coming up here this month, wouldn't surprise me if they use that as the basis for layoffs. "Underperformers" will get the axe.

You can't be this naive to believe that layoffs are about performance. The goal of layoffs is to get rid of the highest paid employees, which are usually those who have been with the company the longest. Which means that if there are layoffs, West will be getting rid of some of its best employees, and not the opposite of them.

The performance are just that, a performance. If you're already at good standing, then no worries at all. I don't think it would relate to the layoffs, but its too many talks/rumors to believe anything at the moment. So like many others, I need to know what's what in the next few months of 2018 so I can be prepared. This "beaten around the bush" is getting tired.

Just because someone has been with the company for a long time does not mean they do not have ambition. Not having a 4 yr degree but working your way up the ladder through the years to make 50k+ yearly means you have no ambition and didn’t want anything better for yourself? I think you’ll find many many employees that have been here 10+ years that have plenty of ambition, so try not to offend everyone posting junk like that.

Just because someone has been with the company a long time does not mean they are the best, it just means they had no ambition to do anything bigger with their lives or they're so mediocre at their jobs they can't get hired anywhere else.
