Severance Payment - The Art Institute Layoffs 2018

What kind of severance payment will be given to the employees if a decision to close some campuses is made. Do we know if they even have plans to pay anything - I am assuming it should be at least a couple of weeks of pay but not sure - please share if you have any info

There will Be ZERO severance pay. You will not receive anything. The entire staff of admissions at our school some with 10 Plus years told to pack their stuff and will only receive paychecks through the end of the month.

If you are staying and teaching or doing student services hoping to get severance you will not.

Ai had 14K students and 100K employees, it was bound to happen.

Don’t hold your breath on severance, or an honest end date of employment or to be paid fully for work performed. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing, and they just went in for the kill, things are going to get real messy.

Since folks are no employees of the Dream Center and not EDMC, I'm not sure years of service even applies anymore.

Standard severance pay is based on years of employment. You are paid one weeks pay for every year that you worked, with a cap At 12 years. Some health and medical benefits our continued for a month or two, again depending upon how long you would work for a Ai. And you are allowed to file for unemployment, which is good for about 26 weeks in most states.

I would guess no severance as they are bleeding $$ right now, except for the pay for the top brass, which killed the art institutes since GS bought the place in 2006. The BOD and executive staff need to pay off their boats!
