Thread regarding GE Oil & Gas layoffs

Baker Hughes acquisition

I'm curious if we never purchase baker Hughes, do you know if GE would of kept the oil and gas division or spin it off like the health care division? Purchasing baker Hughes is the biggest mistake.

Looking at the post-merger performance of legacy BHI vs. legacy GE oil and gas, the performance of BHI post-merger has been good with revenue growth and profitable business units. GE oil and gas is flagging 9% Q/Q declines seems to be the trend with losses that are noticeable.

Though your GE pride is noticed... in the oil and gas sector you had some serious problems brewing. GE did a good thing to shore up their oil and gas business with Baker. They would be in a much worse position in the space without Baker.

The dispositions are not about good or bad units. It is about business units with few long-term liabilities that can be practically spun-off. You think Flannery wanted to see Healthcare go? Wabtec? no... they couldnt get rid of the albatross (power) so they had to let the functional parts spin-off.

The former supreme leader (Jeff) was betting on politics on the Baker acquisition not a good bet on a lame c--t. Would the Republicans have swept it right thru the Trade Commission? I would think not they would have looked at the butchered up Woodgroup Portfolio. Baker is a bullish bunch but no leadership GE has a bunch of former Baker people on their management team and they are _Fing blind and ignorant. Chip was the only hope but that's gone. But really what the F was Jeff thinking or being told or a bet he wasn't told. Flannery is not taking advantage of the business the bean counters should be run off or to some ho hum division.
