For those who were listening, like me, from the first day Bijoy walked in, this was the plan which came from Lobo. The hundreds of talented IT people who, for the last 20 years helped build Stryker to what it is today, are being tossed to the curb, TCS is the 3rd Outsourcing company in 3 years. Outsourcing doesn't work. There is no ownership, accountability, or innovation. Then, there is the question of security. How much data is begin taken by people on the other side of the world who could give a rats *** about US Privacy laws? My advice to folks left, get out on your own terms ASAP.
Stryker is outsourcing all application management to TCS out of India. Currently TCS is in Knowledge Acquisition. TCS is meeting with IT support to learn their jobs. Starting September 1 TCS will be secondary support meaning they will shadow IT support to Get experience. Then, starting October 1 TCS will be Primary support. Stryker middle management keeps insisting that we will not lose our jobs. Stryker HR is very vague as to what our jobs will be once TCS takes over. Stryker prefers to outsource as many jobs as possible. And, they out source to India. Stryker will be a U.S. corporation that has the majority of its administrative workforce in India while reaping all the benefits provided by the U.S.
Yep, Just sat through 1.5 hour meeting about Change. HR completely avoided to talk about layoffs. Not sure if i should ride it out or start looking for another job.
Most of the layoffs will be from IT as they move the jobs to outsourcing: https://wwmt.com/news/local/stryker-confirms-layoffs-as-medical-tech-company-expands
The global IS reorganization is call iHarmony and there is a third party vendor who will handle both application and infrastructure. Primary support by third party is expected to begin October 1. Stryker is preparing all IS employees for restructure. In the end, the only IT jobs will be managing the outsourcing resources. All individual contributor jobs will be gone. From experience, being a manager of the outsourcing teams requires many hours, including evening and middle of the night. Any issues and the manager is held accountable.
