Instructor story here.
When I started there they wanted everyone to work a 34 hour workweek. If you wanted 40 you had to double course and ended up with 60. It almost cost me a marriage. I finally just worked my 40 and did training aid repair. They would say something but never did anything about it. They they switched everyone to a 40 workweek. Every location did it different. Usually they wanted you to double one day a week as a lab assistant. So, you worked four 6.5 hour days and made up your 40 on day 5. Everyone cheated and some got caught.
I think its sad that they cant just put everyone on an 8 hour day and 40 hour week. Period. As far as the instructors go. They are constantly switching their shifts. Sometimes nights, sometimes days. No other business does this to their people. You are hired for a shift and can actually have a life and plan things. I brought this up many times and nobody cares. Pay a shift differential and hire for day shift and evening shift. Thats what everyone else does.
I cant believe the staff puts up with this. Uncertainty of having a job, Uncertainty of what shift you work, benifits sūck. Everyone is hiring, why the hell would you still work there?
Sad.
