Thread regarding Regions Bank layoffs

Where to go if laid off?

Who out there is willing to hire older workers and pay them what they are worth in experience and knowledge?

It looks like those two things are no longer important. Everybody is willing to employ people who want to work for cheap and that's it. Nothing else matters.

Where do those of us who are not willing to settle for that go?

Next round of cuts have begun. Thus far, bankers who worked 30+ years... GONE... others 13 years GONE.. 45 years - Gone... Ages over 55+ are being let go faster and faster, people with over 10+ years are being given severance packages or are being bullied out. This is getting ridiculous. Bankers over 50 are 'scared' (as it's hard to find jobs, even IF other companies say they don't discriminate).. some don't have another income within the household, some are wonderful customer service oriented individuals, being let go without hessitation. Some are the most brilliant at banking knowledge - logical, valuable employees - Being let go or forced out. Most branches are now running on minimal staff, and the older bankers have been let go - the ones with all the banking knowledge to keep Regions out of trouble with the Fed Reserve. Better be careful.. The Fed reserve may shut it down!

Everyone needs to be on the lookout for jobs elsewhere, because even if you make it through the end of the year, you still may not make the next cut. The bank once had a few that cared about its employees, but now they only see their workers as money pits. Very bad mindset, because these workers are going to take a their customers with them when they move on to other banks.

Apply at McKenzie, they seem to be in demand for most corporations like Regions that need to layoff a bunch of people for big bonuses
