It is surprising the number of employees in Taiwan but it is the fab capital of the world. NXP needs these guys to make sure the flow of high end Micros continues and to fault find fab issues around them. When NXP has sold all its fabs, they will be even more important. Until it all moves to China. xFSL is almost gone so they are probably more important than ever now. The board will continue to extract value (ie asset strip) the company until there is nothing left. Maybe then they will fire the Taiwan staff.
Taiwan site totally has over 5000 employees without any revenue growth specifically their FAE team which has over 30 FAEs but playing video games all the day.
What exactly happened to DN? Is Tariq gone? Or has he been demoted under another unit? Nothing in the Austin press about whats going on and of course we don't hear anything internally.
High cost sites will take the punch (as always). NXP moves to Est.
11th Sep is Investors Day of N. That day they must announce something for the investors. DN was dissolved, that one of the main strategic decisions. Anything else would be not surprising. Immediate cost reduction was done by buyback decision. Now a layoff wave is inevitable. Let's see which sites will be hit. They should convince the investors how 500M$ cost synergy was achieved by xFSL merger. They have lost 21 months because of Q deal. Now it is time to get serious.
