Anyone over 50, not necessarily close to retirement or retirement age, has got cross-hairs on their back for Arris HR. If you are a technical person and >=50, then make sure your resume is ready - what you have done so far or doing now has zero effect. if you are part of the old-boys group in management, you are good.
Exactly what @TPddiyq-jtit said. This company no longer cares about how well you do your job. If you can be replaced with somebody cheaper, you will be. And since those over 50 usually earn the most...you get the picture.
