Thread regarding Arris Group Inc. layoffs

Anything new on layoffs?

There were mentions that something big would happen at Arris this week, any updates on that?

I'm not sure how I'd take it so soon after the last round, but I still think it's better to know ahead than just be suddenly hit with it over the head.

I really hope the answer is going to be no layoffs, though.

Get out now, while you still have dignity and courage. The sheep show is about to come crashing down.

Telco and Satellite Customer Premises Equipment (TSCPE). Definitely more than 35 positions company wide.

That's 35 in TSCPE. Several each in El Segundo, Lowell, San Diego. Two in Alameda. One each in Austin, Horsham, Nevada City, Santa Clara.

I've got the US layoff list right here. I'm on it. 35 positions eliminated. Average age 50.8.

How is the severance package? If layoffs were to happen this is a good time rather than during a recession, when its hard to find a job

More than 40 people in San Diego CPE group were impacted, most of them engineering.

@UcZkA5D-veg good post. It is very unsettling to hear about this, even worse if you are directly impacted of course. But everyone I know who has been impacted in recent years has landed in a better place. I used to think the regular Thanksgiving/Christmas layoffs were bad at Motorola, but with ARRIS and the regular rolling layoffs we should all remember to keep our priorities in order. Good luck everyone!

Wow! What a coincidence?!

Isn’t there another announcement this very same week (from Arruccus Arris/Ruckus) regarding the opening of a NEW office in India?

I was laid off by Arris and it was traumatic for some time - it took a while to find a new gig - but I think I have learnt newer much better technologies as I moved on. But at 50+ the silver lining is hard to find given that you have put the best effort earlier.. Especially if you have any children going to college, hits hard both economically and mentally... I still hate the Arris management - what can you expect from a bunch of third-rate Nortel discards!

Thanks Arris, for ending my career. Hoping for a silver lining, but alas I don't think this time there is.

It's beyond your control, don't worry about things you can't control. Take a deep breath and let it all go. Many people that have been laid off feel better after leaving. The stress of constant yearly or twice yearly layoffs ended and a new adventure began. The future is bright. Think it, be it and it is so.
