My dad works for Lexmark, but when I ask him what's going on, he just tells me not to worry because he is safe.
I have to admit I'm not as confident as he is. I'm wondering if he already knows which locations are getting hit and he really knows he is safe or if he is he just being proud and refusing to admit he is worried.
There's always a layoff/restructuring either rumored or in progress at this place. I worked there for over a decade, and I never went to a quarterly meeting that I didn't look for the "Voluntary Exit Plan" or whatever.
Place is a dead stick, which s---s if you're closing in on 60, but most anyone in R&D could get a job tomorrow if they'd just LOOK.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexmark has announced a worldwide restructuring program which will result in hundreds of layoffs. The Lexington company says it will eliminate approximately 1,000 positions as a result of the plan. The company made the announcement Thursday, and it did not release information on how the layoffs would impact Lexington's workforce. A company spokesperson says the plan is necessary to ensure Lexmark's future success.
