Thread regarding McDermott International Inc. layoffs

Same old same old

No real changes for former cbi employees. Same wizards in charge of most groups. Same lack of concern about employee or employee safety.

This week, an armed robbery attempt was made at a office parking lot. The suspect was not located and arrested for several hours. Yet no announcement of any kind made to employees while the event was occuring.

Same old culture.....

Yep, more of the same, the new coo gets caught or at least accused of having insider info on his previous company at yet he is still employed. Minions would have been immediately frog march out the building

“Apparently working at CBI was a cakewalk.“

I’d say you nailed it.

The tyler hate is funny. don't even know what tyler does but I do know that the new CBI management guys are worthless and DD won't be putting up with it for long. Apparently working at CBI was a cakewalk. What is a tyler?

So is your opinion, how did Reficar go (think you are in a lawsuit)? What about Cameron LNG, Freeport LNG or anything else Houston has touched? You used Tyler as your bailout office. Facts are facts, you do not know what you are doing :).

A fact is something that can be proven. “I know for a fact Tyler was a superior engineering office...” is just a collection of words that mean nothing. It’s your opinion and it’s utterly worthless.

"AND wake up. There are quality engineering companies all over Houston that are >$100 all in. Your not cheap and I don't remember anybody raving about your quality. Your not even the cheapest rate in Tyler not to speak of quality (ask the King). Check your facts."

If you say so, talking about waking up. Here is your sign!

"The immediate impulse to blame everything on CMS is hilarious." Sounds like we found the promoter of CMS, guess the saying is true, can't fix stupid. You need to take some psychology classes and understand people, values and skill.

former cbi people (now mcdermot people better get use to it whiners) griping here is both sad and strangly funny at the same time. yes we were smaller than you but you let youre so called corprite leadership steer the ship on the rocks. oh no my friday free hours are gone and i have to be at my job five days a week. wah.

"Tyler is the low cost domestic engineering office (i.e. lower salaries than Houston) and consistently provided good engineering and was often called in to help other offices."

Been here a long time and I don't ever remember asking tyler for help. What I do remember is being told to use tyler and getting fleeced like a stolen credit card.

AND wake up. There are quality engineering companies all over Houston that are >$100 all in. Your not cheap and I don't remember anybody raving about your quality. Your not even the cheapest rate in Tyler not to speak of quality (ask the King). Check your facts.

I know for a fact that Tyler was a superior engineering office and used to do quality work until CMS came along. Before project managers, purchasing, scheduling and document controls started pushing engineering around. We used to say that Houston was a revolving door, they could not keep people.

Tyler also used to make money before Houston came into the picture with their corner cutting ideas. That is a fact.

"Tyler has been robbing from CBI for decades"? Is that how it worked? First off it wasn't even decades and second I am fairly sure that the money flowed upwards to corporate and not the other way around. During the PA CEO time I don't know of anyone on the Tyler campus making $6,288 per hour like he was, not to mention all the other VP's salaries and paying for the corporate palace. Tyler is the low cost domestic engineering office (i.e. lower salaries than Houston) and consistently provided good engineering and was often called in to help other offices. So please provide some backup information if you are going to make comments like this. I do agree with the second part of the statement though, "Surprised that office is still open", due to the ongoing mismanagement of our office and the high overhead cost (again payments to the King and his court). The Tyler office was much more successful when it was run as a stand alone cost center before being fully integrated with CB&I and CMS. I think we are still good, but barely, now just a shadow of what we were just a few years ago.

Tyler has been robbing from CBI for decades. Surprised that office is still open.

When companies view employees as widgets, the company has no long term value. Management does not care about you, why should you care about them? Duh! It is not rocket science, it is a simple matter of respect.

HR has way too much power and no education or business sense. They are just on a power high, It is called insecurity.

by | Post ID: @Uetw1CA-1bni

Nah! It aint gonna change. We still have too much spoiled entitled middle management. Too many chiefs and not enough workers. If you look org charts on the McDermott web site, It has not changed that much except upper management. Same ole SH--. Just a new chapter in the books just like when CB&I bought out Shaw. Sadly this entitled culture has migrated over to McDermott.

by | Post ID: @Uetw1CA-1hnh

What is your source? What office?

by | Post ID: @Uetw1CA-psg

Sounds about right. Zero accountability across legacy cbi. Sh-- ain’t going to change if the only changes that are made are at the top of the org charts. Need a full clear through the middle ranks if they want to change the culture.
