Thread regarding Quest Software Inc. layoffs

Quest layoffs 2018

I've been hearing about more layoffs coming to Quest sometime in the next two months. Anybody here has any more info on it?

I'm kind of hoping that it's just an overblown office speculation that somehow turned into a "fact," but knowing Quest more layoffs are always a realistic possibility.

Not even "low cost" countries are saved from layoffs. We've heard Quest got rid of support engineers from the Panama site, one of their "cost effective" sites. Be prepared for more.

Cork as a site is being reviewed. Make of that what you will. Whilst Ireland remains attractive for it's tax regime Cork itself has challenges not as easily addressed. There are concerns on the viability of recruiting / retaining suitably qualified staff - which is not exclusively a Quest problem. All major tech players in Cork are facing these challenges, and it presents a massive talent acquisition headache. A grossly inflated property market is not helping matters either. A high salary that is absorbed by high cost rent is not quite so attractive to potential recruits.

Timing wise is quite possible, usually end of Q2 is when triggers are pulled (see also 2017). Then there is the recurrent question about Ireland as a base, now there is no VP in EMEA ...

It will 100% be based on the numbers. If they see the writing on the wall and know they're going to miss revenue, then cost cutting is the next item on the list. Since they sold all of the assets to meet last years numbers, they're out of tricks so layoffs will come. There's also a very large push to get rid of "high cost" people (read US based) and get more people in "low cost" countries (read Czech and China).
