IBM picking up GF engineers

IBM at CNSE is picking up a bunch of ex-GF engineers. Have not heard any numbers.

They failed here so you have to wonder when they will fail there.

@VNVppxK-1iii This is a tough one just like a chicken and egg problem because one can argue all the IBM executives were the reason the IBM ship was sunk on the other end one can argue that the skilled IBM engineers were not able to convince the executives to take the right path.

Whosoever is saying that ex-IBMers failed, I challenge them to step forward and pull up their socks. Hope you can do something constructive and make GF a success, instead of enjoying a paycheck and whining about what was in no one's control. If you are smarter than the technologists that exited...get out of your armchair and do something innovative, creative or at the very least USEFUL 😂🤣😂

This also not true :

Many fine companies have stepped forward to interview and offer jobs. GF has been

supportive of this in every way possible.

Referring to the part about GF being supportive - not happening (unless you are connected with ex-IBM management).

It appears from your post that you believe the GF Engineers failed, and your expectation is they will fail elsewhere? Let me assure you, this layoff, restructure is not easy for anyone.

The semiconductor business is a tough one. Mubadala is clearly pulling funding. The CEO and leadership team are doing what they get paid to do, get product out the door to customers that will give them $$, while not sinking the GF SHIP, and many of the technologists that once worked at GF on the leading edge technology teams were collateral damage. It is not easy on anyone to get through this.

I encourage you to celebrate that engineers and others who were laid off at GF are being hired or rehired by IBM. Many fine companies have stepped forward to interview and offer jobs. GF has been supportive of this in every way possible.

Because an engineer was laid off, does not make him/her a failure. It does not indicate lack of skill or knowledge. Actually, quite the contrary.
