I started in Network Systems Shortly after divestiture in Newark NJ. years later, and after a spin off, a merger, then an acquisition, what is left is that stuff that floats to the top as our management. For you old timers, just Sit back, and wait for your package, then find a job that pays what you deserve, and treats you how you should me treated. Boy, i miss those Western Electric guys that molded me into the employee I became. I think the end started in 1999, and it just dragged out. I hung in there for what turned out to be c-appy healthcare, and the financial meltdown of 2008

You said: There are only a 1000 people left in Wireless Mobile Network USA.

I think that number is much higher...on the order of 5-10k. There are something like 15k employees in the USA. The majority is Wireless Mobile Network?

Go ahead, cut us all. Who cares. We are underpaid, work late evenings and weekends without pay, haven't gotten a salary increase for several years in a row.

USA economy is doing so well, I'm sure we will ALL find a great job that pays more then what we make today. We all have a lot of experience and I'm sure any other company would be glad to have us join them.

The word on the street is that another 600 will be cut Jan 17, 2019. 200 will be in Naperville. Sounds about right. RIF's usually hit the 3rd Thursday of the month. This is just something that we have noticed.

When Nokia announced they were going to take over Alcatel-Lucent, they said they would need to make 800 or 850 million euros cost savings. That was 2 years ago. Are these redundancies simply as a result of buying Alcatel-Lucent, or are there more cost savings they are wanting to make?

What s---s is that I know I am going to be one of the thousands. They have told us that they do not want us due to union. They want us to go work for the outsource vendors, for 1/2 our pay, staying 4 people to a c-appy hotel room, sharing one vehicle. No thanks. Oh, and getting to lose my benefits and 401K, but I should be happy about that. For the good of Nokia.
