Aetna always had layoffs Today no job is safe. Chances of old timers retiring are minimal . It’s that way everywhere .

Getting a bit worried. They are hiring nurses now (but just laid off two months ago?)... and planning training classes. I was offered a position which I need, but have not yet accepted. Really wondering now if it's wise to take it.

So true, nurses being laid off and replaced with telephonic nurses overseas, because there cheaper! You can’t evrn understand them them have the time, ( not trying to be mean, but most have strong accents, making it hard to understand them) multiple nurses including myself, in my department laid off as a Christmas present, to take place Jan 2019. The sad thing is one of my coworkers had to train some of the overseas nurses telephonically, that will be taking her own position. I used to love this company, was proud to work got them, and planned on being there many more years until retirement, after 11+ years, of hard work for this company, the Thanks I get is , see you latter, pack up your stuff, your out of here, as of new year 2019, and this news was delivered a couple days before TG holiday , making sure they ruined our whole entire holiday season. I’m sure with every merger comes with layoffs, but it’s all about the manner it’s done in !

I worked in IT at Aetna and face it, the Sr Management at Aetna views any IT staff expendable. I was billed a bunch of BS that I had several years of work ahead of me, then all of sudden the work disappeared. I get a call from my manager saying, you have been selected to be terminated, just wanted to give you a heads up so you can start looking. Then 2 1/2 months later I get the official paperwork. Talking with other team members, they were told that sometime in 2019 they will be shown the door. They needed to cut 100 million dollars in IT to make the company look good before the purchase in 2018. So many people were cut in 2018 for that purpose, then they will hire foreign contractors to fill in the gaps when needed. I liked who I worked with, but Sr management at Aetna loves contractors, cheap labor. They don't care what the works look like, only the bottom line.

Thank you for posting that information. I work in the BH division and management reports they have no information for us. If you hear of specific job titles being layed off and feel comfortable posting I would appreciate the information. Thanks again!
