Thread regarding GE Power layoffs

Denied VRIP. What are my options?

In February 2018 GE Power offered me a VRIP package and I applied for it. However, my manager denied the request saying I was too valuable too lose. I was really upset because others in my department were accepted. This brilliant system rewards non-valued employees and screws the most valuable. Just another example of GE leadership incompetence.

Now just 8 months later Power is offering another VRIP and I have applied once more. I expect to be denied again. But this time I intend to fight. I'm looking for others in the same situation or any advice as to the best way to fight this outrageous unfair process.

Denied VRIP 2019 in Healthcare division, to valuable BS....

I might have to quit and work inhouse and take some contracts with me.

Also hope to stop some sales of P600 Xr system , its actually a Toshiba POS from the 80's

Which facility do you work at? I am in Greenville and we were offered a VRIP in February as well. We have around 150 take it with no one turned down. Really surprised the HR team. I haven’t heard about another VRIP, but I wonder if it’s coming??

This VRIP may be harder for managers to deny, especially if you are part of GPS division. Good luck.

Legally, you can’t do much. Incentive packages are approved based on business needs, not employee desires.

  1. Just wait it out and retire when you are eligible

  2. Talk to hr

  3. Ask for a bonus or stock options to make it worthwhile,

  4. look for another job.

  5. Transfer knowledge / train others
