See below, this is from the NYT:
The Sonoco Products Company, a maker of boxes, plastic bags and food cans, will eliminate 340 jobs and close 20 plants to reduce expenses because of declining sales and prices, and higher costs. About 130 of the positions will be eliminated at the company's headquarters at Hartsville, S.C.. Most of the layoffs will occur by the end of the year, Sonoco said, and will cost about $22 million before taxes. The moves will save as much as $60 million before taxes. The plants to be closed have not been determined, a spokesman said. The company has 17,500 employees and 300 plants.
No recent layoffs though. We have hundreds of locations and some close from time to time. Not a big impact though.
