The company notified Florida on Dec. 5 that it will lay off 629 workers by Jan. 31.

Eh, this is just what happens when a big contract ends or is lost to a competitor. One of the downsides to consulting is you always have to be looking for the next job opportunity, especially if you are tasked to a single contract. It s---s, but hopefully everyone in the consulting business is aware of that risk. Hopefully everyone lands somewhere else.
