Not that Staples actually have a thriving soul, but there was a sense of appreciation and transparency for and to associates at one time. I've watch 2018 become the year that Staples has become the black eyed soulless creature that roams the street looking for the next meal. Its a gut feeling as the spingolli of Go to Market infiltrates every pore of the associates chanting GTM, GTM...like some b-rated movie of 1984. Or the Invasion of the Body Snatchers as Associates that use to be able to Say it like it Is are screamed down for saying something is amiss. They proclaim transparency because SD has weekly cheer leading sessions, all the while VP level continue to be secretive and mystic in their communication or answering simple questions. My manager says if you feel uncomfortable, you should, work harder, etc. no associate should feel uncomfortable, and how much harder can we work, is 12 hours a day not enough. Now the BIG sales conference is upon us in Orlando. The Orange Co Convention Center is huge, large enough for all to be indoctornated with the soulless creature. I wonder if they will have a large screen with just SD's face like in the movie 1984. Secretive is Transparency, Failure is Success, etc.
After the hand grenade in furniture last year, I've held on thinking leadership will give guidance and stability, only to see one of the smartest, experienced people be pushed aside for a non-industry person.
