Thread regarding BB&T Corp. layoffs

This week will be a bloodbath

Many good workers with many years at the bank being fired due to management sole focus on shareholder return. Week of 1/15 is going to be a blood bath. Boston consulting group came in and the 25 year old MBAs are driving management to fire staff apparently without concern for how the business will run without enough staff or experience. BBT culture is now destroyed. Morale is non existent and staff who remain will certainly be on the lookout for positions elsewhere as opportunities arise are other Banks. What goes around comes around.

Bumped from @VTNAZ7u-1gxby for important info.

What needs to happen is start by freezing pay of Kelly King and his entourage of executives. Secondly, the company is top heavy with inexperienced managers who have no concern about the employees who do the grunt work. Morale is extremely low. Loan volume is low in all sectors of the bank and in all geographic areas in the 15 state footprint.

I got RIFed yesterday. The AFR group has been under the gun. It truly is an environment of fear that permeates our culture. I’ve been very disheartened about it because I never had a bad review, worked hard and got things done correctly and when they needed to be done. I hope it turns out to be a blessing because there has to be some place better than this.

Do not assume people have never been through a layoff and no layoff is soft

There appears to be no real reason as to who they let go. My last review I got an exceeds expectations, while others really but us in an audit problem and are still there! It's just very awful and disheartening to know you do your best and give them 100 percent and in the end they really dont care! My thoughts and prayers to everyone going through this!

Layoffs are terrible and very disruptive. Those affected will always feel singled out, scared and upset. That is incredibly natural. It's not fun for anyone: those receiving the news, those giving the news, and those left behind. Reactions such as these posts are just ways to blow off the stress and everyone totally understands that. This company did what it needed to do in it's opinion and gave a very soft exit ramp. Those who don't agree with that haven't experienced other companies and other layoffs.

I heard several departments were going through this. Sad situation. Maybe if they release some of those admin assistants that are using most of the budget it would save one or two positions!

I agree! I was included in this recent lay-off! Says a lot about the company, especially Will Voorhees and those reporting to him.
