Thread regarding eBay Inc. layoffs

Any concrete info on more layoffs at eBay?

Not conspiracy theories - actual info? There were rumors going around more people would be shown the door before the end of the month, so I'm wondering if that's going to happen or not.

If there is somebody in the know who'd be willing to share info with us, I'd really appreciate it.

Regarding the number of employees laid off by eBay on February 13, , the California WARN act, which was triggered by the layoff, says:

"For the purposes of the WARN Act a mass layoff is defined as a reduction in force that is (1) not the result of a plant closing, but (2) leads to an employment loss at the employment site[TE1] of 500 or more employees during a 30 day period, or a loss of 50-499 employees if they make up at least 33% of the employer's ..."

If I understand that corectly, * just in California, eBay laid off at least* 500 people. In my own department, the percentage was 12.5%, including me. When I started at eBay. my department had 14 people. Now it has 7.

I was off yesterday and came in today to see a LOT of empty desks. Dozens of people I won’t be seeing again

The company no more wants to retain talented and brainy people by paying them more. Basically it is happy with all those from cognizant (CTS) who once contracted and getting lesser pay now. That way it can run the business at low cost.

I heard about the layoff from my former manager that 400 people were let go today. I was part of the last layoff.

San Francisco too. 400 reportedly from my contact at StubHub (which wasn't affected).

Confirmed it’s happening company wide; no exaxt number but it feels like hundreds, and this is after several rounds of layoffs within the last year. Looks to be only full time workers.

Ya. This is insane. After the layoffs last year and their goals for this year, I don't know how they can afford to layoff anyone else. Any AWFs cut?

Was there anyone still left to be let go?

The “leadership” at eBay is a joke. Absolutely incompetent and short-sighted!
