Comcast eliminated positions across West Division last August/September/October of 2018. Comcast Leadership called it “optimization” to a sharred services model. Many tenured employees lost their jobs, “termination without cause”. Impacted people could look for opportunities within Comcast; typically with a 50% pay cut! Give Comcast 18 years and they make you start over again!

Naperville, IL just hire 6 new 3rd shift employees. They are needing/requiring 5-6 current MES techs to transfer to overnights.
Management said the Naperville office is being remodeled and we may return to work around January 2021. What a coincidence this is around the 1 year mark for the current MES team.
Any advice or is the axe coming for Comcast to start over?
I was laid off by Comcast, it was exactly as described above. An HR lady I never met before showed up to our meeting was very cold , matter of fact about it. Was not allowed to clean out my belongs and escorted out of the building. I was closing on my first home that evening. Nevertheless that didn’t happen. I was polite and calm hoping to be rehired so I could get my home and benefits back but no luck. I was treated as if I was at fault for something. Very humiliating.
The head of your department will call a meeting. If you arrive at the meeting and see two people, prepare yourself. That other person is HR with a packet that has your name on it. After receiving the news, the immediately escort you to your desk to collect your things. Then you're escorted out the building. It's extremely embarassing and humiliating.
In our department, everyone over 10 years. They offered no job relocation. The severance package was good though. But true, they only kept a particular demographic of the team.
Could you elaborate on which departments were eliminated and how did they inform the employees?
How many got cut?
