Thread regarding NXP layoffs

Nxp layoffs this week Feb 16 2019

Layoffs yesterday and today, to continue into front half shift tomorrow morning. All fab workers including maintenance and operators and process techs so far. On Monday who knows there may be engineers or office people involved. SADLY none of the deadwood managers that Everyone knows needs to be fired due to incompetence , will survive. They will just be shuffled around so another group can experience the pain. NXP Chandler fab’s morale has been destroyed by incompetent management that tries to rule by “management by intimidation “. There are no words to describe how pathetic things have gotten.

I work at the Chandler NXP location. I work with people in Russia and France. I didn’t hear of any managers getting laid off. The layoff was the smallest one I have seen in 35 years. Very small number of employees.

You're wrong. There are 6 layoffs also these days in Bucharest/Romania.

Austin - Oak Hill. Some yesterday but more happening today (Wednesday). No idea at ALL about numbers but these are individual technical contributors from what I've seen, not any management (yet).

Layoffs are happening in Austin at NXP Oak Hill. I know a maintenance tech that worked there for over 20 years and they can laid off the other day.

If this time S company fails to acquire N, N will has a big lay-off action because their cost of manpower is too high specifically in Taiwan. Hence for those buyers the best way to buy N is: keeps waiting until N sells their other useless and uncompetitive departments individually (ex:MCU, Iden, Power IC). Because auto market only happens in China(Taiwan and Other region have no any auto business), and in China auto market N is also not tied 1 or 2 or 3 chip provider...so I am a buyer I will not waste money to buy a tier N film

In Europe, we exactly have the same feeling. Always Europe, never US or Asia.

The first wrong they did is : bought Freescale especially in Taiwan, the employee of FAE’s salary is super high even higher than in state.

Taiwan? You think too much, country manager would never let every engineer get laid off
