Thread regarding BB&T Corp. layoffs

Nothing personal, just tough business

We at BB&T understand that employees are replaceable. Nothing personal, rather tough business. We are doing what is best for shareholders. Shareholders confidence in executive managements decision to make Premier Financial Institution the best of the best is far more important than workforce satisfaction. I didn't get to this point by being nice and putting employees first, I got here by doing what was in the best interest of shareholders. Nothing personal, rather just tough business. Move on people!

Excuse you! Many of those let go in the most rootless (I think you meant ruthless) way were not willing to adapt... for 20 years all I did was adapt... did it matter? NO! You might not wish to comment when you don’t know of what you speak!

Clients are tired of dealing with the results of decisions made by ToughBusiness. Our local branch has been unable to keep staff and is bleeding clients left and right to nearby Credit Unions - which have only added employees to meet the demand!

How dare you assert employees coming from Wells Fargo are dishonest. Former Wells employees are a major reason BB&T is still afloat. Of course, you would not know that from the top of the ladder. Remember, ladders are easily upset and you will one day reap what you sow!

By the way, the correct term is "ruthless," not "rootless."

To TheTruth, adaptability is the key to success. Businesses and Employees must be willing to adapt. Out of the top 500 companies 50 years ago, only 50 exist today. Why? Because associates were not willing to adapt. This is the world of business and in order to succeed, companies and its employees must adapt. This is not some personal family where you get to live with the way you were brought up. Times change and so should you. Those who were let go in the most rootless way were not willing to adapt. To the individual who was thinking about coming over from Wells, BB&T/Suntrust does not need a liability and unethical sales practice. Thank you for moving on, for it would of only been a matter of time and we would have forced you on. As I mentioned before, nothing personal, rather just tough business. Welcome to success!

there are many employees that are shareholders who will lose their job. how does this benefit them? they lose their job but get an extra 2 cent dividend per quarter. i guess the employees who hold shares dont matter. the only shareholders this benefits are the executives who dont even have to buy their shares they are given shares yearly and dont pay a dime for them

First off - STFU! Secondly, as mentioned, it will bite you in the butt one day! Karma is REAL - and best believe it can skip you and hit someone very close! Business is BUSINESS but how BUSINESS is conducted and DELIVERED is DIFFERENT. The RIF was done in an UGLY manner. Most people have moved on! I hope when it HITS it does not HIT too HARD :)

Thousands of employees were laid off in the most rootless way.

No one cared to even say thank you to them. It was a quick face to face or a phone call in some cases.

The reality is all the BS BBT Aja’s been saying about their culture is just a joke.

Wow,, I need to start by saying “thank you”. I am a Wells Fargo team member and was recently offered a role at BB&T. To be honest, I wasn’t exactly thrilled about taking a lateral move but I’m weighing my options for leaving WF due to their poor leadership. See your post makes me feel even more comfortable with deciding not to come over. So thank you for reminding me that I will not trade out one poor employer for another. Good day to you all.

What about the recent 401k class action lawsuit BB&T settled. I guess that was tough business when you were investing it. Is that how you take care of business? Does not seem Premier to me. You are right you do not put employees first. Thrive or Die.

I do not know who you are or even if you are Kelly King himself, if this is they way you treat your employees it will bite you in the butt one day. You do not treat employees like trash then expect them to respect you or buy-in the we are a "team". Yeah I understand it is a business, but you cannot have a business if you do not have employees. To all of the employees out there, put yourself first before the company, because we are just a number to this company and they do not care about you. Like tough business said it's all about the Shareholders, it's a recipe for disaster. Also to toughbusiness 🖕.
