Thread regarding CDK Global Inc. layoffs

Norwood is being downsized..

They are moving everyone from two buildings into one and eliminating two floors worth of office space. This was sent out this morning:

Dear Team:

In 2016, we announced that we would create a new Customer Experience Center (CEC) in Norwood. Over the years, we planned to transition a variety of cross-functional roles across RSNA to the new CEC. We have made substantial progress toward this goal and now have a significant number of CDK employees located in Norwood. This location is now one of our top three CDK locations by population.

As our organization evolves, it is always good practice to regularly assess how well we are using our work spaces across our organization. Our objectives in evaluating our footprint in Norwood are to ensure we are promoting teamwork, communication, collaboration and cross-training, as well as improving efficiencies. To further these goals, we are excited to share that we are currently in the process of reconfiguring our office space, so that the entire Norwood team will sit in Building Three.

This move will allow us to continue to focus on improving our customers’ experience, as well as foster a greater sense of connection and camaraderie with one other. We plan to have all moves in Norwood completed by March 31.

In the coming weeks we will share additional details regarding the move. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for those impacted. Please contact your HR representative with questions. We thank you in advance for supporting this initiative.

Regards,

Dan

As reported July 19, 2016 Cincinnati business courier:

The company received a job creation tax credit estimated to be worth more than $15 million from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority in September for the project. The tax credit will require CDK to maintain operations at its new site for the next 18 years and would retain $3.4 million in existing payroll along with 80 jobs. CDK is expected to make $9,750,000 in capital investment as a result of the tax credit.

To get tax breaks, CDK has in recent years committed to employing some number of workers in various places ; is Norwood one of those? Is their commitment there now expiring? Anyone know which localities are now buying CDK head count and in which they can cut without consequence?

Are they trying to lay people off still? How are they going to combine so many people into one building?

Are they planning on sharing cubicles(hot seating)?
