I call BS on that "letter received". Are you saying you were laid off through a letter in the mail?

In the past. Seagate Severance package is one year service for one month pay with no cap/limit

"Looks like this OP is a typical DotHill grampa grumbling on getting laid off from his job babysitting his grandkids. Harrummpphh!"

Seagate buys a company, and then nukes it and lays off a bunch of its employees. And you expect them to be okay with that? DotHill would be just fine if Seagate had let them continue operating as an independent company.

For some reason, people seem to think Seagate will continue giving generous severance packages. They fall to realize that the severance is by no means guaranteed. Those who hang around hoping, waiting for the package are lazy and greatly mistaken. Come the end of March, a lot of folks are going to realize inaction was a big mistake.

It seem like you will have no regrets if it’s a 1 month pay per 1 year work package.

You need to look broader and further in life. Anyway good luck and all the best.

Isn’t the policy, at least in the US, 1 week severance pay for each year worked? Plus 2 week notification period, so that should be 17 weeks, unless the original poster started as a contractor or temp...

You must be drawing 250K per month, that's why the company can only afford to compensate you up to three months

How many weeks per years service did you get?

End of the day there is no point you being disappointed about it as you decided to stay and not move on and therefore by default accept company policy, which can change.
