Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Where’s the work

Our fios build out has stopped. We only have 5 central offices out of 21 that our area covers that have fios and our 2nd level said they are not finishing any of those this year and Verizon is not going to put fios in any CO that doesn’t have it yet. The fios installers only get a couple jobs a week, and most of them are left ins. Our cable maintenance has very little work, even after all of this rain. Most customers have left for Comcast. Fiber splicers have very little work and copper work is find it fix it. How long can this go on before someone notices? We could lose half of our workforce and still have difficulty finding work for everyone. To top it off, we were told this 5G stuff isn’t going to be here for at least 5 more years....the fiber that is being run now is dark fiber...has nothing to do with our 5G service. I guess Hans saw his shadow and now we have 5 more years of winter.

Don't stress we have jobs until aug2023 and 80% will leave and the younger workers who remain will be treated badly because the union will be a joke once the aug23 exodus happens.

The longer the customer is out of service, the more likely they will leave

That is the master plan

Hours per dispatch and fdr is smoke and mirrors

Your line has been sitting in a wet cable for 9 months, do u really think u can fix it in 4hours

Is it worth spending 50k for new cable or digging trenchs for 5 workers

Plenty of work in our area. You must be in the boonies. We have plenty of work at least enough that many are saying no to OT keeping our list pretty fluid. It is there for the takers.

Thousands of copper lines out of service for 6 months or more, no overtime. No fios available

Waiting for contractors to finish 5g

Management keeps talking about 4hrs per dispatch. If job takes longer than 4hours they want you to leave

Ever since zero based budgeting took effect, work load increased 100 times
