Thread regarding FedEx Corp. layoffs

Still not much concerned, but...

I've been with FXS for about a year now, I am in one of the non-Memphis branches. Anyhow, folks are mildly concerned with buyouts, but there is no freak-out and things are orderly - I guess people are feeling OK-ish overall. This is my first job after college and given my loan load, I really need this job - I am probably stressing more than I should - it's kind of hard to stay collected when you need that job but receiving 'we'll need less resources going forward' emails from the execs.

So, I find it worrisome but I calm myself down by saying that the execs know what they are doing and that they are trying to balance things out while the economy still runs at full capacity. I know that Express never had layoffs and that also puts me at ease (somewhat).

Don't worry and chill - you'll be just fine... We do this from time to time and you will see a few buyouts if you stick with us for some time - they are waving a carrot for the folks that are on the fence (planning to leave but haven't left yet). They will have enough people accepting the buyout and the headcount will balance itself out. They will not lay you off.

Express never had layoffs. We never lay off drivers and handlers - if cuts happen it'll be in admin positions, TNT acquisition folks, IT/finance, paper pushers, customs, etc.

If the Memphis Hub was to start laying off people we'd be facing a complete chaos. We can barely operate staffed as we are right now - there is simply not enough people to do everything that needs to be done. I give this prospect (layoffs at the Hub) about 1% chance right now. You never know but that's what I feel.
