"A required notice employers periodically have to send."

Yes, once when hired, and once when fired. Which would give pause to anyone still employed as to why they are receiving the notification. But if you weren't walked out, and you got one of these, yes, that would be confusing.

It is possible there has been a change to the COBRA plan regulations which would require a reissue of the statement. However, that fact should be addressed in the document and only Congress can do that!

But then reality sinks in - and all speculation falls to the wayside.

Someone in HR erred and did a shotgun blast mailing to cover the recent layoffs. Those layoffs were about 90 days ago, and they are legally required to send the notifications in that time frame.

I can't imagine the amount of angst they had to deal with when this occurred. Oops.

A required notice employers periodically have to send.

Though on a side note Human Resources as consistently dropped the ball and number of areas including communication and not having performance review process set up to review 2018. It will be another scramble to get this completed due to their poor planning, execution and communication.

Maybe they should start purchasing insurance companies and running them into the ground too!
