4xoq Oh sweet millennial. You are NOT entitled to taxpayer money to abuse. Grad plus (not something anyone should ever use unless you are going to be a medical Dr) is based on credit and Pell grants are based on financial need.

Living expenses means room and board. Not your cable bill, manicures, & luxury cell phones. But if you need an interest bearing loan to pay for those things, especially grad plus, you’re understanding of finances will doom you forever.

4ftp Apparently you still do not understand how receivership works, let alone federal student aid. Rule number one - DCEH IS NOT IN CONTROL OF ANYTHING. Cry all you want about an iPhone charging cord & beer you can’t afford without an interest bearing loan, but cry to the receiver. DCEH has no say in anything happening right now. Criminal charges for something they have NO CONTROL over? It’s such a stupid statement, no wonder you encourage kids to take out an interest bearing loan for beer.

Another bit of education. It’s not a student’s money. Federal student aid is the taxpayer’s money being LOANED to a student for educational expenses. If you borrow someone’s car and take advantage of it, you most likely will lose access to the car. Same thing with federal student aid.

Someday students will wake up and realize that $15 case of beer cost them $500. This is not something most people would ever encourage.

FEDERAL LOANS=> GRAD PLUS LOANS are FOR LIVING EXPENSES. THAT MONEY IS MONEY WE ARE ENTITLED TO... WE TOOK OUT THE LOANS, they are still accumulating interest, EXCEPT WE DON'T HAVE IT IN OUR POCKETS

I think is up to the student how he or she would like to spend their stipend. It’s none of our business! I know someone who used their stipend for breast implants. Now go ahead and judge, but can you honestly tell me that a person will still have the same iPhone in 10 years, when the loan and interest has finally been paid off? I mean, we should be on iPhone50 mega plus by then.

@2hch -

A bs “non-profit” company, clearly a scam, has yet to be honest about anything. From day 1, they have been far from transparent, are far shadier than EDMC in the way they have tried to bring in for-profit entities upon being explicitly told it cannot be done, hiring family and friends so they can all profit from a mess they created, and they’ve placed the blame on everyone but themselves. In addition to failure to pay taxes, bills, they lied to students and staff about accreditation (and I could keep going) but you are worried about what the student would have spent it on? If I am a student, most likely I need certain school supplies (since we know DCEH couldn’t even handle something as simple as that) and classes have already started, my money may go towards what I need immediately because THE SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO THAT MONEY. Wouldn’t it then make more sense that I spend MY money on things I need now because once my stipend is deposited into my account, I can replace things such as an iPhone charger, which is not an absolute necessity in the short term?

I don’t care if they spend it on beer and Netflix, that money was to go to them and it is not up to you or DCEH to judge. If students hadn’t gone to those outside the school, this would have been yet another thing DCEH did without anyone knowing until it was too late because they’ve once again blamed everyone else until being backed into a corner by someone almost as shady as they are. Maybe he IS the right person for this after all. Hopefully the leaders of DCEH face criminal charges.

I think you’re placing the blame on the wrong party here.

Oh come on. When all is said and done what did it ever matter what the loan money was used for as long as these institutions of fraud and failure took their cut up front. Stop fretting over the iphone and look at your own money for nothing behavior.

The pool just simply ran dry. This fact is just more evidence that is was never ever about being reputable by cultivating a quality educational organization that was not predicated on the con and short sighted greed. ( not to mention never ending bull sh--)

A wise man once said that is was possible to do well by doing good. You clowns did neither. Therefore, don't let the door hit yo a-- on the way out.

Federal student aid was set up to pay for tuition. That’s it. Students are told that any additional money they may qualify for are to be used for educational expenses - textbooks, a computer, software - NOT groceries, an iPhone & cable, which is what these adults are complaining about.

What would make anyone think a loan for education should be spent on the latest IPhone?

1hsu -- wrong - it is used to pay tuition and what's left can be used for living -

Federal student aid money is for education, NOT gas or living expenses.

Happening at Argosy Atlanta as well. Students are selling plasma for gas money and have eviction notices. They have had landlords reach out to the receiver and he is not returning any calls or emails
