Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Failure of Dream Center Education hurting predator QuinStreet bottom line

Douglas Valenti (QNST, CEO)

Gosh, hard to - we don't have. I just looked at Greg, he has given me the headshake. He doesn't have the numbers in front of him. I don't have them in front of me either but I would point out that DCEH was technically a not-for-profit, because remember, that's the old EDMC for-profit assets that were acquired by not-for-profit entities set up to - to absorb and manage those, called Dream Center Education Holdings or DCEH, so it would be skewed. So that the - it would - the growth over there for the year-over-year would probably be muted by that. And the overall growth for Education was 5%. So my guess should be in that range, but I do not have those numbers, to get it out, in front of me.

Why do you think lead generation companies call their conferences ConED? Emphasis on the con! These "people" promise jobs and then refer the caller to a sham school. Millions of dollars spent on getting people who do not want, and cannot afford an education to enroll in hopes they will get a job.

This has nothing to do with current enrollment. This is one of the many serious management failures along the way. Clearly, based on the timing on the QS earnings announcement, it lines up with failures of past quarters. Given how much these predatory schools spend on leads, this is a serious scam.

And....what part of DCEH even exists any longer, that is enrolling new students? AI is not....South is not part of DCEH, Argosy has no EC’s to even enroll online, save a few that are left at the ground campuses that are still open. So, I don’t see how anything is “funneled” through Quinn Street at all....especially seeing that BR is no longer affiliated with DCEH.....but, I digress.

The CEO of QuinnStreet is a friend of Brent Richardson's. Richardson made it a mandate to switch off of the existing lead aggregator to QuinnStreet. All the senior management in admissions across the brands objected because of how poorly QuinnStreet performed in the past prior to being taken over by DCEH. As expected, QuinnStreet floundered and provided leads that were converting at a third of what the previous lead aggregator did. Not only did DCEH schools take a hit financially now other lead vendors that were competitors to QuinnStreet must now funnel their leads through QuinnStreet to DCEH. This gives QuinnStreet an insider view into their competitors on competitive information on leads (how they were generated, when, device information and etc.).

Can you be more explicit? If not, can you email me?

"How convenient that this is Brent Richardson's personal friend. Let's move our lead generation to these guys when they were 60% less effective than everyone else. Now we know why."

You mean getting 20% of the competence for twice the price? This is Richardson and Crowley's secret sauce on how they assembled the management team comprised of family members. This is why they have been so successful with 30+ years of experience.
