Thread regarding Allscripts layoffs

What steps can be taken to save this company

Legitimate question. Is this company saveable and how can that be accomplished? If Allscripts is the #3 player in this market does that mean the smaller players are doing even worse than we are?

who says i am no longer with Allscripts? Mike didnt send an email out that he was leaving. I hadnt spoken to him in a while since he moved onto some peoject management things. I am surprised he left, he lived and breathed the company line.

So why did he leave? You seem to know all and see all.

The company is very dishonest when dealing with the people that work there. They just cut all the chmb people. They previously cut all the nanthealth and McKesson people. They have been cutting long time employees that had a wealth of knowledge. Being good at your job or clever or smart doesn’t matter. They always say after the cuts that it’s over; but they cut more in a few months. Anyone that has been there a while and see security come onto the floor know what’s up. When you see good people get let go, you soon realize there is nothing you can do. So people stop caring since doing your job well is no guarantee that you will avoid the next round.

Will I leave, sure when they walk me out. I have too much invested and quite frankly I don’t really have to work very hard. Do as little as required. Milk it out. Yeah that’s the plan

If you consider the market, the company is not doing fine. Flat or declining stock value versus large increases at competitors over the past ten years. Maybe they've fixed the debt problem by selling NetSmart, maybe not, those are the noises being made. There's been some biggish wins for the company but theres also significant losses - holding onto the customer base they have with white knuckles at this point. There are some really smart and dedicated people that actually make some pretty neat things. There's also some amazing amounts of disorganization, ignorance, and outright incompetance that balances that out. Some groups are run well, some groups are not, and some aren't even playing with the same rules as everyone else and who knows what they're doing. In terms of tech there's areas where they are far ahead of the buzzword curve and doing really incredible stuff that's way ahead of competitors but there's also bad decisions, old and creaky platforms, slow to adapt to new tech, and some fall on your face tech blunders as well. It's also pretty well established that a lot of the people with experience or knowledge are the ones being removed rather than the people with connections who stay at their level of mediocrity. Can the company be saved? Sure it can, like any other. But don't think its going to happen if they keep blundering around the same way they've been for years now, and just acquiring companies for their clients rather than their technology is not a good long-term strategy as they risk alienating those clients all the time.

That's pretty much what this site is for, isn't it? The blood runs pretty thick in the gutters at MDRX from all the cuts, it is only reasonable that people should be concerned about their jobs. I'm just wondering if you actually think coming to a site about layoffs and then being hostile to people about their concerns is some self-appointed guardianship of Allscripts pristine reputation, a big-stake shareholder or management trying to defuse any negative impressions, or just trolling? Either way, it's not your place to chastise people for griping about the state of the company or their concerns that their jobs may be evaporating.
