The building may be bought by a trucking company possibly YRC Freight, and will house their many 18 wheelers. The storage company Westy is still in the mix, but YRC i heard may offer more money. Just what i overheard today.

The building is not closing for 6 months or so. Stop whining and get resume together and get a new job. Most will never get job like this or anywhere near the pay but its ok. Life goes on and no company owes us or anyone anything, HBO has been very good to everyone for many years, a country club if you will. Be thankful not bitter.

Senior management will likely choose full time personnel that is married with a family over a worker not married without a family, does anyone disagree with that??? If so post your name here and voice your opinion. Once children are involved you have to give the career to the man that needs it the most and if that man is most qualified its automatic. Relax this is solid information.

It's wrong the way they told some were able to have jobs and others just left out to dry. Its wrong that one can give their life to a company and still be relatively young and be a better worker and have better attitude and not get a look for a job. Multiple departments like the person below noted are doing this. The part about keeping a full time worker with a family over a younger worker without one is difficult but makes sense. Hbo needs to do what's right.

Lots of interviews going on in Hudson yards, peculiar that seniority has no role in this. Age discrimination lawsuit coming. Age discriminating is illegal, and bad for business. Imagine if they hire a kid over a man because the kid has no wife or children and the company thought it was cheaper on medical costs to let a guy go with kids and take a young guy who they know isn't having kids. Imagine that, how bad that looks. Laying off a man with a family who has over 10 years looks very bad just sayin. Send this to top dogs. All departments mind you im speaking of not just one.

Potential buyers of building want to turn the place into a storage facility headquarters not necessarily a storage facility i heard. Not sure how accurate it is but heard that from 2 insiders i know. If the storage facility is IBEW can they hire us haha. Good luck everyone.

Management has jobs and lazy union workers are finally going to know what its like to work if they can even find jobs at all. I also heard storage facility looking to buy building. Property worth north of 100 million

The funny thing about this building closing is that people actually are still WONDERING what's going to happen to them. I can answer that your being laid off we all are. And severance has been settled it was never a question to people in the know. By October it should be closed and outside firms taking it apart, not HBO employees they wont risk injuries, so there is no job for anyone in this building once October comes. Get those resumes ready and see if you can find another job, i doubt many here will i see many not employable sorry to say our culture ruined our values and work ethic. Reality will be setting in quickly i pray everyone can adapt and remake themselves its not going to be easy.

Let's pray that perhaps they don't close the building and maybe we get to keep our jobs. Let's all pray.

Any news on severance pay or medical yet? Not sure if i should look for a job now or wait it out and see what severance is offered and make 2 incomes. Please any information is appreciated. No answers yet from IBEW just a bunch of i thinks, and im assuming etc. They have been zero help.

Seriously somber situation. Looks as if Everyone is completely done and likely before January 2020 probably sooner. Outside firms already bidding on Satellite removal before Halloween. Terrible. Prayers to all. May the lord find new homes for you all.

Its the Unions fault for creating this im going to test management to see what we can get away with attitude, Its true. However if you speak to a SHOP STEWARD they know nothing about what's going on, i mean zero. Pathetic. This is a huge win for the company and union jobs are going away. Its over but it didn't have to be. We brought this on ourselves. There will never be another nice job that pays so well in this area ever. Very sad. The union again failed and continues to fail as we have gotten zero information yet. Management is laughing they are all safe. We not so much.

Some union representation we have over here. Speaks volumes how nobody was informed of what's going on with severance yet and who will be taken to Manhattan other than management. The union is a joke and so are its members. We did it to ourself. Union tell us what's going on already

Terrible situation completely out of the blue. To say everyone is lazy over here is not true. As with any company you have some entitled people and some work very hard. The lesson to be learned in all of this is age old, the company always wins and will take management with them. So being in the union means very little right? No pension its bankrupt, no job after closing of building, c-appy 401k and little severance. I feel as if time was wasted here. My days were indeed easy at times and that's on me but i worked and did my job. Not everyone is motivated here but not all are lazy that's not right to say. I hope everyone lands somewhere when the building closes at the end of year. My advice is to be positive and stay relevant in your next career. Hang tough and stay strong hbo family

I was under the impression only union personnel would be let go or laid off with the building being closed. Aren't those non union jobs being sent if the workers want to go out of state or into the big apple? Any information would be helpful.

Pharmacy company buying building.

The Hauppauge center is a total waste, there are the biggest bunch of lazy and i mean lazy c---y workers in that place, nothing but free coffee and a f you im in the union attitude. It reminds me of old school union. They are ibew but the ibew is powerless. The majority are done in October as the contract ends in October. And i know transfers to NYC arent being offered its a layoff. Meeting this Friday.

Was great working there. Best people on earth work there. Will miss them
